Information about the host The Language Guesthouse is located in the wine town Vogtsburg (main village Oberrotweil) in the middle of the vine and recreation area Kaiserstuhl.
The Language Guesthouse consists of two houses: a renovated old house (the old winegrower house with the holiday apartment) and a new building (B&B guest house), which replaces the barn of the former winegrower farm.
Both houses are only a few metres apart and connected by a large balcony on the first floor level.
On the balcony in the warm season breakfast is served.
A courtyard in the space between both houses is a green spot thanks to many potted and container plants.
The apartment visitors have their outside sitting area in the courtyard.
The nearest restaurant is 200 m, the nearest bakery 200 m, the nearest supermarket 300 m, the nearest church (catholic) 200 m, the nearest railway station 700 m away from the LG.
Only two minutes takes the walk to the vineyards. 1 km is the distance to the public swimming pool, 3 km to the Burkheim swimming lake, 3 kto m the river Rhine, 25 km to the edge of the Black forest.
Larger cities in the surroundings are Breisach am Rhein (9 km), Freiburg im Breisgau (25 km), Colmar (France/25 km), Strasbourg (France/70 km), Basel (Switzerland/ 70 km).
The Konus guest card, which all Vogtsburg visitors get for their tourist tax, is a valid ticket of the local and regional public transport.
You can use it during your stay without further costs and explore the whole Black Forest and Upper Rhine region with it..
The Kaiserstuhl (‚the emperor's chair') is a small range of mountains (an extinct volcano), which rises in the middle of the Upper Rhine plain in the attractive district of Breisgau.
The Breisgau area - and there particularly the Kaiserstuhl - is the warmest region of Germany.
Not only grapes are prospering here, but also cherries, strawberries, peaches, apricots, almonds, figs and in spring asparagus.
Not all visitors of the Language Guesthouse have heard of the Kaiserstuhl before and many of them, being here their first time, are surprised of its scenic beauty.
Anyhow, the Kaiserstuhl does enjoy a reputation beyond its local borders, due to the uniqueness of its nature, the friendly open-mindedness of its inhabitants and of course its excellent white and red burgundy wines and the delicious cuisine, which perfectly hamonizes with them. - There are Kaiserstuhl enthusiasts, who return to visit this beautiful spot every year.
The cultural and economic centre of Breisgau is the city of Freiburg (220,000 inhabitants).
The university - founded in 1455 - is one of the oldest in Germany.
However, Freiburg's landmarks are the Gothic cathedral (Münster) and the picturesque medieval centre of the city with narrow alleyways and brooklets, the typical Freiburg "Bächle".
The Münster's 116-metre spire has been praised as "the most beautiful spire in Christianity." The entire region of Breisgau has a high recreational value and enjoys an excellent reputation with visitors from Germany and other countries.
The Rhine offers boat tours and river excursions, and numerous lakes provide swimming, boating, and other water sports.
The Black Forest offers all kinds of winter sports and thermal spas for your health.
Almost everywhere you find hiking trails and cycle tracks, inns and tavernes, where you can enjoy regional or international dishes and Baden's wines.
In day-trip distance there are plenty of other attractive places of interest in Germany, France and Switzerland.
The Language Guesthouse offers to its visitors not only holidays ‚like a visit at the home of a friend', but also the opportunity to discover their creative talent - a 3 hours trial course on the fret saw is offered for only 24 Euros per head.
International guests get a free trial lesson in German if they want.
By the way, communication with your host will work in any case: she speaks English fluently, not perfect but sufficiently Russian, and more rusty than fluent French.
At a pinch we'll be talking with gestures and signs.
